Psychotherapist & Counsellor in Swindon
"Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise." Victor Hugo, Les Misérables
My name is Janey Templer-Milligan and I am a fully qualified Psychotherapist and Counsellor. I obtained my Degree in Therapeutic Counselling from Gloucestershire University and a postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Aylesbury College. I am a fully accredited member of the NCS (National Counselling Society) and hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate and am fully insured. Apart from running my own private practice I am also Co-Lead Psychotherapist for Self Harmony at Swindon Mind. As a Member of the Swindon Equality Coalition Committee, I believe in equality for everyone regardless of age, gender, religion, ethnicity and sexual orientation.
All my clients are seen in a comfortable, confidential, safe and non-judgemental setting in which to explore their concerns and feelings. I believe that trust is the foundation to a good working relationship between me and my clients. If this is in place, it allows clients to explore their difficulties and bring about positive change in their wellbeing and lives.
Talking can be a daunting thought for many people and sometimes it is difficult to tell those close to us how we are feeling. This can be because we fear being judged or rejected by those closest to us. My training is integrative which means I can draw on many different counselling models and techniques to suit each client’s issues and needs. I believe people have the ability to develop their full potential but sometimes this can become blocked or distorted by life experiences, particularly those that affect our sense of value.
I work with each client to establish a confidential, collaborative relationship based on trust, empathy and acceptance. By supporting you through your therapy and providing a framework for you to plan and set goals for your life, will help to produce the very best outcomes.
My approach is totally non-directive and I believe the client is their own expert. In order for personal development and growth to occur, each client is guided and helped to find their own inner strength and solutions to their issues.
What I will not do is to tell you what to do or how you should be feeling. What I will do is to explore your inner self and find out what resources you have within you to empower you to bring about positive change for yourself and your life. I will help you to unravel difficult or blocked emotions and make more sense of your world.
Together we can embark on that voyage of your own personal discovery and a better life.
